{ New Website - Grimsby, Lincolnshire Photographer }

So, it's been a hectic few weeks here.

kids going back to school, Weddings, Portrait Sessions, our youngest son ending up in theatre after a fall (He's fine now though, thankfully!), Maybe not the best time to embark on a massive new project.

But, we felt that the website was in dire need of an overhaul.

So, we started to piece together what we wanted the new website to do:
  • New look
  • New interface
  • Better content
  • Easier navigation
  • More cross browser compatibility
So, we started work.

First of all, there was the issue of mobile, what to do with them. We have noticed by looking at the logs on our site, that a massive 79% of all traffic is from mobiles, so the new site had to be mobile friendly. But, without pushing out the users of conventional PC's.

So, we came up with a solution of building a site specific for mobile browsers, this given them the same content as the desktop version of the site, but formatted for the smaller screen.

This also meant developing a mobile solution for the On-Line gallery that we use. In the past, our galleries have been mobile compatible, but now they're built for mobile devices, so they work much better, and overall they're easier to use.

So, when is the new site going live?

It was supposed to launch yesterday but it clashed with the release of Apple's iOS 6, and there were a few incompatibility issues with it, so it's been held back.

The good news, is that these issues have now been resolved, and the launch of the website will happen in the next few days.

{ Back To School Photo Sessions - Grimsby School Photography }

Okay, so the summer holidays are about over, and the kids (and the parents) are looking forward to schools re-opening.

New uniforms, New shiny shoes..Love it!

The newness and crispness of everything, the joy and excitement in the child for returning, the anticipation of starting a new school, or moving up a year.

The parents, coming to grips with a younger child starting out on their first day at school, or an older child's first day of their last year.

It all goes so fast. These are the moments that we capture in a school portrait.

Although we are the photographer for a some of the local schools, we would like to give others the opportunity to have their child's school photo taken.

How about getting your child's school photo taken, on their first day back?

We'd like to offer you the chance.

Now, there are two ways that you can do this:

1. You can come to us, bringing your child on their way to, or from school
or
2. If you and a few friends (minimum of five) want to get together, and have the kids photos done in your own home, then we can bring our mobile studio to you.

The second option may be easier if you have kids of different ages, and they're at different schools, then you can arrange to have them all at home at the same time, and get a Family, School Portrait.

We can offer a single 10"x8" Print (Considered large by many school photo companies) for just £8!

So, if you came to us, then you could get a school portrait of your child for just £8. Of course, we will also offer photo packages, so you can have some extra images to send to relatives. (Let's face it, Grandma loves a photo!).

If you want to take us up on this, then simply get in touch, and we can arrange a slot in the morning or afternoon for you, or we can arrange to visit you at home.

You can contact us either through our website at www.btcphoto.co.uk

{ Photos make great Gifts - Brigg, Lincolnshire Family Photographer }

Birthdays,

Despite them being a once a year event, and you getting plenty of time to plan the perfect gift, they still seem to creep up on you out of nowhere.

If you're anything like me, then you will find yourself searching for that perfect gift only a few days (at best) before their birthday.

Well, maybe we can help. Photo's make great gifts, so why not give a photo session gift voucher?

The voucher is valid for six months, and starting at just £30 would give a Photo session and a free 12" Print too. Of course, you can customise your voucher by adding extra prints, or a canvas perhaps, or, maybe you just want to give them a session and then an amount to spend on what ever they choose. No problem, just contact, and we can customize the voucher for you.

That's exactly what someone did for their friend recently, they contacted us, and arranged a special gift voucher for a birthday, and we even personalized it for them too.

So, when she contacted us to arrange her session, we made the necessary arrangements, and soon the session was upon us.

Upon arrival at the clients house, we unloaded the kit from the car, and began to setup. Meanwhile having a chat, and getting to know the family a little better, as well as getting an idea of what they were hoping for from the session.

This is something that we always do, to try and encourage them to put their ideas and thoughts across, after all, they're your photo's, so it's important that we show your family off at their best.

This particular family had two older children, and a baby.

As is usual with our sessions, we allow a period of time for the youngest one to relax, and get used to the camera, and the studio setup.

If you're stuck for a gift for a friend or loved one, then why not get them one of our gift vouchers, and give them a gift that will last.

Just contact us and we can do the rest!

{ Weddings, Weddings & More Weddings! Grimsby Lincolnshire Wedding Photographer }

Hello,

Remember me, well, okay it's been a while, but I haven't forgotten you all, its just been a busy time recently.

See, it's wedding season again, and that, and the school holidays means that things have been busy recently. and as a result, the blog has been neglected. So, time to sort things out, and show it some attention.

So, what have I been up to? Well, I've already mentioned the weddings, so other than those, there have been some family sessions too. But, I'll cover those in a separate post.

So, lets take a look at the way we do weddings...

Now, go on be honest, how much thought did you give to your wedding?

I'll be willing to bet that it's a day that you've been planning for a long time (okay, not all of that planning is actually on paper, but in your head, probably since you were a child!).

Why so much thought and planning?
Because, simply you want it all to be Perfect, the way you want it.

Why should your photography be any different?

Think about your day, and what makes it special and unique to you.

Maybe you want a small, informal service, maybe you want all the trimmings, custom cake, and tables dressed just the way you want them.

We can cater for this.

Don't want an Album, then we can provide you with images on a disc so that you can print them yourself. Maybe you want loose prints to put into an album that you already have? Or, if you wish we can design you a custom album from your favorite images, and have this printed professionally by our lab. Giving you a unique and lasting keepsake from the day.

Everything about your day you've planned, and pictured, and you want to remember it. With so much going on, you're bound to miss the little things, so not only do we document the day, but also capture the details for you too.

Capturing the story of the wedding, from the bride getting ready through to the evening reception.

The day is more than just the ceremony, it's a story, Your story.

We capture the story from start to finish. Some of the details we document are not ordinarily seen by the groom. For instance the bridal preparations. To the groom, this goes on behind closed doors, and usually, they'd never get to see this.

We can capture the details of the Hair, Makeup, Dress, Shoes and the atmosphere of these preparations, which normally are not given a second thought. But why? They're just as important as the rest of the day, as they make up the story.

Once these details have been caught, then we will meet the groom (Don't worry, we wont show him any images!) and meet with him, the best man, the ushers. We can then capture your arrival at the ceremony venue, and then onto the ceremony itself.

Once the ceremony starts we will continue the document the ceremony, without getting in the way.

As the Official Photographer, we're usually allowed a free reign of the venue to document the service for you. During this time, your guests will have to remain seated. But, with us being allowed this freedom enables us to get the details that you would otherwise be missed.

We can capture the events from different positions, allowing us to ensure that images are different, and help to tell the story in as much detail as possible.
This is the advantage of hiring a professional wedding photographer, rather than relying on a guest, with a camera.

And, once the ceremony is done, we will continue to capture the day, allowing you to interact with your guests, and let them be a part of it, rather than have to worry about getting the right photo for you.

So, what about the reception?
Well, we can cover that too if you want.

It all goes toward the story of the day that we will build up for you.

You choose the table dressings, the menu, even the choice of wine that served.

Maybe, you have a custom cake, that you've had designed especially for your day, Usually, just eaten and forgotten.

We always document as much of the day as possible, by using the time when your guests are busy drinking, or eating to ensure that we don't miss anything that makes your day unique to you.

It's reasons like this, that we ask about themes, color schemes etc, anything about your day that make it different. Each ceremony is different, from colors to themes, and even the meal that it served.

From traditional white weddings, to butterfly themes, we've seen lots of ideas brought into the ceremony, and it's about you, what makes you...you!

We will capture those details.

Once we've captured the day for you, we will then edit the images. Each and every image we take will be retouched in some way, be it a color balance, or a crop, or a complete retouch and airbrush, each one will be edited.

Then, we will process the best of them, and will out together a video presentation, and will arrange to come and show you so you can choose your favorites.

Not sure what we mean by "Video Presentation"? Well, we used to call them Slideshows, but we didn't feel that "Slideshow" was a good way to describe a Dynamic, HD Video., Oh, this is a short sample of what you can expect to see

And of course, as well the options of Prints, Albums, Canvas's you can also take the video presentation on a disc also. Want to post it to facebook, E-Mail to your aunt in New Zealand, or even drop it onto your mobile? No problem!

So, what's your investment in all of this, well, our packages are tailored to your needs, and budget, but start from just £295!

Why not ask us about how we can cover your big day?

{ Cake Smash Session - Grimsby Baby, Toddler & Family Photography }

The cake smash!

Quite possible, my favorite kind of session, aside maybe newborns (they are sooooo lovely, just so tiny, and precious - I love them!)

Cake smash sessions are a great way to mark a child's first birthday, as it gives a set of memories, that are priceless! They're also great fun too!

So, what is a cake smash, well, in a nutshell, think of them as Baby Vs. Cake!

No, we're not mad, they're cool! Seriously, these things rock!

Recently, we have taken a few things on board, and have changed a couple of things about our business, and the cake smash was one of the things we've changed.

The cake we used previously, was iced. This was proving difficult for some children to get through to the cake, and to be honest, we didn't think it was messy enough (yes, that's right, we're complaining as it was too clean!).
So we've changed to a Giant Cupcake, that can be made pink or blue, and as it's no longer iced, but frosted, then it makes a much bigger mess!

Don't worry about the mess, as we use a big white vinyl sheet that covers the floor, and this catches most of the mess!

So, when we met with this client, and we discussed the cake smash with them, they booked.

The arrangements were made for the cake (These cakes are made fresh, by hand by a local baker).

On the day of the session, we had a quick discussed with the client when we arrived, the equipment was setup (We use a completely mobile studio, so we use a Studio background, and real studio lights to ensure the best, studio quality photos can be captured in your own home), and we were ready to go!

And, the destruction began!

Now, usually, things can take a few minutes to get started, and for things to get messy. And, this session was the same.

This little girl for a while seemed more interested in the butterflies that were on the top of the cupcake, than the actual cake itself.

One by one, she picked them off.

Examined them.

Tasted them.

Then....Omm nom nom...

Gone!..

Once she realised that she was allowed to eat the rest of the cake, then things got a whole lot messier!

She seemed to really enjoy making a mess with the cake, and that's the idea! The messier, the better!

Obviously, there is some clean up to do after a session like this, but the client was more than happy to help with this.

Now, this session was a little different, as it was not only this little ones birthday, but she also shared her birthday with her older sister too (what are the chances of that eh?)

So, we arranged to go back a few days later, and get some photo of her older sister too, not a cake smash, as she is 16, and we wasn't sure she'd be up for a cake smash!

Sadly, the day of the session she was ill, so we postponed until just a few days ago (luckily, we always keep some flexibility in the diary, just in case!)

So, we went back to capture photos of the two of them together, and some individual photos too.

Again, after a discussion with the client to work out what she was looking for from the session, we began the session.

I think that these two, look great together!
And, the big sister certainly seemed to enjoy having her photos taken too!

Why not have some photos of your little ones (and bigger ones) taken too?

{ New Products - Grimsby, Lincolnshire Family, Toddler & Baby Portrait Photographer }

We spend a lot of time looking for new products, and new suppliers who can offer us something different.

So, a few months ago, our lab changed the way that we order prints, and gave us different software to place the orders through. At first, it was cumbersome. We'd been using the same software since we started using this particular lab, and it worked well. Sure it had it's flaws, but it worked.

But, the new software is quicker (Now we know how to use it properly!) and has a few more options, and checks to ensure that everything is right.

A few days ago, we had a call from the lab manager. He calls every so often to check things are okay, and if there is anything that we feel they could do help us.

He also talks about new products that they can offer. So, when he mentioned their new photo gifts, we thought 'Hmm, lets try these!'

So, we ordered a sample, and it arrived with us the other day.

So, here is our new Photo Mug. Yes, it's a mug.

Makes a perfect gift for Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, or just for yourself if you want. Simply choose an image from you session, and you can even personalize it with your own message too if you want!

Available either at your Sales Preview, or from the On-Line gallery for just £15.

Also, Now available is a new Wall Display Frame.

This is a whopper of a frame, measuring  18"x45" and holding three 12"x12" Prints, it is available for a limited time for just £100 including the three images of your choice.

The frame will be increasing to £125 in the future, so grad them while it's at the lower price!

{ Louth Family Photography Session - BTC Photography, Grimsby, Louth, Lincolnshire Baby, Child & Family Photographer }

As many of you know, we are completely mobile, and we travel far and wide. Mainly within North/North East Lincolnshire, but we have also had sessions in Lincolnshire, and even as far away as Northampton!

So, again, we were contacted by a customer who lives in Louth. We have been to Louth more than a few times in the last couple of years. A booking was made, and off we went.

When we arrived, there a nice parking spot right opposite the house, lovely!

So, a quick introduction, and I get the gear from the car. Being mobile does mean that we can't travel light!

And once setup, we soon had the kids wanting their photos taken.

Sometimes they're a little nervous about having them taken, but with a little bit of play involved, they soon relax.

Three kids here, two boys and a girl, the eldest.

And, as well as the usual contemporary portraits, we also capture some fun shots too...

Now, we all have the same photos of our kids, you know the ones, the typical head and shoulders, school portrait types. We all have them, even we do!

And, yes we do take them, and we will capture these on every shoot, grandparents love them!

But, I prefer the more relaxed, fun type of images, that's what makes us different. Our sessions are more relaxed, letting the kids play, and let their individual character and personality come through.

We also, where possible like to get a Family Portrait too, sometimes the parents are adamant that they're not having their photo taken, but, when the kids ask, well who can say no?

But, without permission, that one's not for sharing!

All in all, we had a lot of fun, throwing balls, posing with flowers. The kids enjoyed themselves, and Mum (and Grandma) was happy with the results too.

At the end of the day, we want it to be "Your Photos, Your Way"

{ Louth Family Portrait Session - Louth, Grimsby, Lincolnshire Photographer }

Being mobile, it means that we can travel to where the customer is.

Be that in Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Immingham, or in this case, Louth.

We had been to this customer before, and had photographed their little ones before. It's always nice to visit again, and see how the kids have grown.

So, the night before the session, batteries on charge, memory cards formatted, lenses cleaned, everything checked; just as with every other session.

And, on the morning of the session, and it's time to load the gear into the car, and head off.

Arriving at the customers house, I found a parking spot right outside, Bonus!

So, inside went all the kit, and began to set-up. The kids find this interesting, as I put the studio together. This usually takes around 5-10 minutes (Whilst setting up, and talking to the parents, and the kids, I can immediately see how much the kids have changed since the last session). A quick discussion with the parents, to find out what they're looking for from the session, and I have a good idea of the type of images that they're looking for, so I'll make sure that I get these, as well as some of the photos that we like to try and capture on each session.

So, once it's all setup, its ready to go...

First, a few "Dressed Up" photos..

This was something that was arranged before the session, but one of the benefits of having the session in your own home, is that things like outfits changes can be done more easily. You have your entire wardrobe at your disposal. And, it also makes the kids feel more relaxed too.

Also, whiles capturing these images, i also shoot to get a few more natural & candid photos too, here is one of my favorites

Just love this photo...

Then, a quick change for the kids, and time for some photos of them together

These two are great together, working so well with each other for the photos, it was as much of a pleasure this time as it was last time, here is a photo we took of them together last time, and they were great together then too

Oh, and of course, we just had to get an updated family portrait too

Remember I said that you could just how much the kids had changed? Well, this was more evident with the little girl, so here is a comparison from the first time we met her, to now..

Then

Now

She has grown up sooo much since we first met her.

{ Wedding Bells, and the British Weather }

Wedding Day...

It's something that most of us plan for a very long time!, and we want everything to be perfect...

Spending ages planning every last detail, from the dress, to the grooms suit, the bridesmaids, the shoes, the car, the venue, even the color of the dressing on the chairs.

Everything can take a long time to plan, and to make sure that it's all perfect on the day. As a result we are usually booked to photograph a wedding many months before the big day.

So, when I was contacted by this couple last year, it came as no surprise that the wedding wasn't just around the corner.

So, I arranged a meeting with them, and went to visit. I showed them a slideshow of some of our work, and we discussed their ceremony, and what they wanted. We agreed a price, and the contract was signed.

Soon enough, the wedding was just around the corner, and we met up again to discuss the details, and make sure that everything was still as planned (we had to change a small detail, but once that was all sorted, it was good to go).

On the day of the ceremony, it was agreed that I would go to the couples home and photograph the bridal preparations, things such as the hair, make up, the dress, shoes (and usually, a bottle of wine or two that may have been opened).

What I immediately noticed here was how calm everyone appeared!, but the preparations were in full swing. Hair, make-up, dresses all being sorted.

The bridesmaids were getting ready, and beautiful they looked too.

Usually, I try not to choose a favorite photo this early on in the day, but as soon as I saw this on the back of the camera I thought "Wow!".

I absolutely love her eyes!

But, there were plenty more photos to be had.

So, pretty soon it was the bride's turn to have her hair done, and this was part of the story of the day that I was there to capture for the couple. Usually, the groom doesn't get to see this side of the day, so I like to make sure that I can tell the story for him through the photos that I capture for them.

So, once they were ready, it was time for the bridesmaids to leave for the venue, whilst the bride waited for the car to take her...

After a short while, the car was here (On-Time as planned), and it was time to leave.

So far, everything was going exactly as planned, and it was all running smoothly.

But, as always, the one thing that can't be controlled is the good old British weather, and when we stepped outside, it was raining!

Not heavy, but it was raining non the less!

Now, with the bride safely in the car, I had to make sure that I was at the venue before the bride to capture her arrival, so a quick word with the driver and he agreed to give me a couple of minutes head start.

Once I was there, we awaited the bride's arrival, and sure enough, a few minutes after me, her car pulled in.

So, On with the ceremony.

Once the bride arrived, there was the formality of the paperwork that she needed to complete, so I took this opportunity to have a chat with the groom, who seemed understandably nervous, but cheerful.

After a short delay, the ceremony began.

Most ceremonies are personalized, and this one was no different, with a poetry recital

And of course, the ceremony continues, and then "The Kiss"

Go on, All together Awwwww!

And, then after a few group shots outside (The rain had eased, but soon started again, and we had to move back indoors), it was time for the reception.

And, of course the speeches:

Now, of course, there are a lot more photos of the cake, and the table dressings etc, but lets save them for the couple shall we?

Maybe, though, I have another photo that I must share with you all.

Brilliant, and I have to thank each and every one of them in this photo as when it was taken, it was starting to rain again too, so they are all stood there looking up at me, with the rain beating down on them! Well done to all of you!
